Palestinian visitors perform flash dance in the Square
Monday, 20 August 2018
Last Thursday, Halifax Friends of Palestine hosted a group of young people from the Lajee Cultural Centre in the Aida refugee camp near Bethlehem in the Palestinian West Bank.
The group of a dozen contained singers, musicians and dancers who had previously been on a three week tour on places in Scotland and England. HFOP provided them with lunch in Hebden Town Hall before taking them on a tour of Hebden. In the course of this they performed a flash-dance in the Square to the delight of passers-by.
The dancers stayed overnight with families in Calderdale and on Friday evening gave a full performance of their show to a packed audience in Halifax. They have now returned to Palestine.
