Be careful what you wish for.

That's what the Queen discovers when, after having twelve sons, she wishes for a daughter. For at the very moment her beautiful daughter is born, her sons are transformed into wild ducks.

When Princess Snow-Rose learns what happened to her brothers, she sets out to try to release them from their enchantment. She must weave and sew twelve shirts from nettles. And, as if that isn't hard enough, for three years she must stay silent and neither smile nor weep.

This traditional Norwegian tale is a fabulous fable of determination in the face of great hardship.

multi story bring their customary magic to bear with a blend of live music, magical word-weaving and engaging physicality in this show for 5 -11 year olds and their families.

John Law: Solo Piano Concert

St Thomas's Church, Heptonstall nr Hebden Bridge

Book now8pm to 10pm

£10 (£8) £2 for under 26s

John Law will be playing original compositions as well as selections from his two acclaimed solo albums in the four CD Art of Sound series.

Known for straddling both classical (in which he started) and jazz, John's aim is to make the improvising sound like it's been composed and the compositions as simple and direct as if they've been improvised there and then. In addition he brings to jazz a love of wide dynamic range and different touch, something which can best be experienced in the solo format.

John Law

As well as an interest in advanced harmony and rhythm, John's compositions and playing also explore harmonic simplicity and straight grooves. A highlight of the Piano Weekend.
