Melvin Burgess and Michael StewartMelvin Burgess made his name and redefined the parameters of young adult fiction with the controversial Carnegie Prize-winning novel Junk.

Burgess has since written other ground-breaking teenage novels. including Doing It and Sarah's Face. Michael Stewart is a multi-award-winning writer, born and brought up in Salford.

Since moving to the UK, Brazilian singer-songwriter Mônica Vasconcelos has established a reputation as one of the finest exponents of samba and bossa nova this side of the Atlantic. Whether performing at international jazz and world music festivals, or in clubs such as Ronnie Scott's, Mônica never fails to delight her audiences.
